Matthew

DSC_0016

Your beautiful picture here deserves a post to itself. You are becoming such a handsome young man Matthew. You are such a sweet boy at 6 years old. You are the most physical of all the kids… always wanting back rubs, always coming up to Momma in the kitchen to touch me or rub me on my back. You are a sweetheart! Right now you are on a math frenzy. Several times a day you will pull out your math book and do a few pages. You even did some right before bed! You don’t get your love for math from your Momma!  : )

A Pattern from the Lord

9781441797636

“God never built anything among men without first delivering to them a pattern.”

I read this last night of Jim Elliot from “Shadow of the Almighty.” It was as if God was speaking to me through Jim Elliot’s writings to give me assurance that one day He will move us and that He has been showing us a pattern in which He wants us to follow when the time does come for us to leave.

How foolish my last post seems regarding our financial situation now in light of the big picture… the big picture that He continually shows us as a pattern. The pattern that we are going to be able to help other Christians. Christians who are struggling, brothers and sisters who are being persecuted as the Stanley family or the principle of a school who was asked to leave because she included a Christian website link on a newsletter:  http://christiannews.net/2015/01/27/texas-principal-put-on-leave-after-linking-to-christian-website-now-reinstated/

The persecutions that we are seeing today are nothing for what is to come. It is a scary and exciting time to live in. We believe strongly that the Lord is leading us in this direction to help other Christians because it will help shape our children for their times when persecutions will reign worst. It will put an imprint upon their souls as to what is important in life and that they are to help one another. We’re hoping this will go down to our grandchildren who will really see it regarding any topic such as homosexuality, home schooling, or anything to do with Christ and His ways that don’t line up with the common churches’ image of Him.

Anyways, I had to share this today. The Lord keeps giving us a Word here and there of encouragement that He does have a purpose for our stay here but that one day He will move us. I keep reading of Jim Elliot and how he had to wait years to go out on the missionary field. The Lord was preparing him and though he didn’t want to go to college, the Lord led him there. He was able to learn how to interpret different languages through linguistic courses. The Lord knew what He was doing. We know right now that we are in His hands and that He knows what He is doing. It is good to be at rest today and now worry about something so menial as our financial situation when we have food on our table every night, clothes and shelter and a vehicle in which to travel to the store.

Some of my friends on here have foster children and adopted children of special needs. God showed you a pattern first and even now that you are fulfilling it, He is doing something through those children and others who are a witness to as your lives carry on a pattern for His good work. He is so good.  : )

For Thou Lord Art Good and Ready to Forgive

Since buying this home in May of 2013, we have been taken financially at every turn, every month. The Lord does chastises whom He calls sons and we are gracious that we are being chastised because it is for our own good in that we do not sin in this area again and we have hope because there will be a day when we will be relieved of this burden:

Just the other day my husband informed me that we were able to save $250 this month. I went into town to my doctor’s appointment and I took a part to Home Depot from our leaky faucet in our bathroom shower. Matthew retrofitted a screwdriver in the piece at home so they could still keep the water on while I was in town. When I got home (without the new part as they didn’t have this unique one), Matthew proceeded to put the old part in. It would not work now. So, whenever we turned the water back on, water would pour out of the faucet from the bathroom tub. We had to call a plumber so we could have water again. There went our extra money for the month again.

I walked into the kitchen that evening to turn on the water. There was a little drip I hadn’t seen before. I knew the Lord was allowing these things to happen. He wants us to learn through our sufferings. I went quickly to my husband and shared, “We really need to pray that the Lord will move us soon.” I shared with him about the drip in the kitchen faucet. This was just another thing from the monthly woes since we’ve moved in.

Later that evening, Matthew came into the office to share that he opened the Bible to this. He knew it was the Lord. I knew it was the Lord speaking to us through His beautiful Word. We have hope! I don’t know when it will happen but we have hope! Here it is:

Ps 86:1-8

1 Bow down thine ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.

3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.

4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

6 Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.

7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.
KJV

I am so happy. My husband now has a fervor to pray without ceasing regarding our departure from here. I have always felt that the Lord wants us to both pray about this home continually like the woman who went to the judge continuously and finally he decided to hear her case. I believe that the Lord wants us to fully know that it was He who sold this home and decided to move us when it does happen, so we can give credit no where else. I remember moving into this home and thinking, “I’m glad we’re not moving again, we would never be able to sell this house.”

Today, my husband drove the garbage up the hill to our big dumpster. The 4 wheel drive went out (Last month we had to purchase new tires for the truck as we kept blowing used ones). We need 4 wheel drive up here. It is icy, snowy, sleet and there are many hills with big drop offs to get to our home. I felt calm when I found out the news. I shared with Matthew that the Lord was allowing these things because He never wants us to forget how it was living here. Thank God, I looked up on Google when the 4 wheel drive goes out, and our truck came up on the top. I found that there are some wires below the door that get caked with grime and often that is the problem. Matthew went down to juggle things around under there and it worked. He had already made an appointment so he still took the truck in to his appointment with the article and they looked under the truck to find 2 inches of grime under there where the wires are. No other problems with the 4 wheel drive and only $37 later….

But, we wonder about next month. My car sits on the top of the hill next to the barn with a bad fuel pump. Every month something turns up that we get by but barely. It is no way for a Christian to live… and to have a luxury home to show for it. We are still in high repentance and daily. We have opened our hand to this house and closed the other fist to being able to take care of daily matters. How we should have the fist closed on the house, having it paid off, and have our other hand open to daily matters and needs.

How we have hope renewed again though because the Lord is so good and ready to forgive. He will not allow us to fall. I do love that verse though it is hard; “Thou He slay me, yet I will trust Him.” I know one day we will drive from this house and we will be in a new season of “showers of blessings” as the Bible says. We will do the right thing and have the opportunity to pay off a home. We’ll be able to help others as led by the Lord. I cannot guess as to when He will move us but I can have hope again that maybe it won’t be too much longer.

Just a Few

DSC_0111

I made some donuts for daddy’s 55th Birthday on December 27th. They were so good, I decided to make them just one more time.

DSC_0107

Trying my hand at Fair Isle knitting the other night. I think this one is going to take some good time to master. Hopefully sometime this upcoming year I will be able to post something that actually looks decent. I love trying new things with knitting.

DSC_0104

My first cables. Though I made a mistake midway down, I continued to the end and it actually turned out just fine. I love practicing with the cotton yarn because it’s so cheap. It also feels good to knit with on bamboo needles. I’m waiting for my yarn to arrive from January 1st so I can continue on with the baby blanket, I’m trying to make a vest for little Matthew as he loves to make vests and it’s about time to learn how to shape things. I’m also making a washcloth made from flax yarn. Now if I could only get motivated to sew. It is not my favorite thing to do… at all. I put it off more than anything else.

The kids wanted me to take a picture of their creation the other day. They love Thomas the Train toys. They all go crazy for Thomas the Train. They “borrowed” our nativity set last month. It still sits in here…  I guess it’s time to put it away.  : )

Little Chops

In case any of you ever wonder why we call Matthew by the silly name of “Chops”, it is because he was (and still is) a chow hound. It seemed to come about around the time of this post when he was eating off of a steak bone (chop), with his chops:  https://aprayerfullife.com/2009/12/15/random-pictures/

Poor Matthew, he just does not like hair cuts. They make him nervous.

DSC_0071

But he still sits very quiet….

DSC_0073

Sometimes sucking on a little piece of candy because Momma feels bad for him.

All cleaned up with his little puppy.

Lots of pictures of you today little boy.

DSC_0087

Just a cuddly little boy. Must have something to do with having lots of sisters around you and a Momma who loves you. Dad wrestles with you to try to make you more “manly”, but you’re still surrounded by us girls.  : )

DSC_0089 DSC_0091

Matthew is drawn to the puppies, Elisabeth to bunnies, Hannah to lambs and bears and Leah to ducks. Tabitha totes around a dog, a horse or a kitty (or all three), depending on her mood that day. Miriam and Anna, I haven’t figured out what stuffed animal they are drawn to yet. The kids probably know.  : )

Our Little Squirt

DSC_0114-001

It looks like our little squirt is doing just fine. We will find out the gender next month. I wish I wasn’t so emotional with the gender issue this time, but I am. I believe this could be our last baby and am holding out hope for one more sweet baby boy. It’s not that I don’t want a girl, I just want a boy so much. Eight girls already and one boy… how could I not lean towards another boy?  : )

Little Matthew has never gone to an ultrasound appointment so I will let him go with me next month. I asked  him if he knew how they can tell if it’s a boy or a girl on the ultrasound. He said, “Is it because the boy has short hair and the girl has long hair?”  ; )

Hannah got to accompany to my appointment yesterday. She was excited to see baby moving and kicking all around. It amazes me how they can move around so much being so little.

My placenta is a bit low but we have 9 weeks for it to move up before we have to worry about taking precautions, etc… This has happened before so I am not too concerned.

Anyways, I am excited. I think we are over the hump now. The 1st trimester one that any woman fears when she’s had a couple of early miscarriages. Nausea is subsiding more and more though not completely gone yet. I feel it the most when I’m very tired. I’m weaning off of the progesterone. Happy, grateful and still in shock. I can’t wait for July!!!
